Artist's Shuffle: My Dichotomy
Artwork due by April 1, 2015!
Welcome to the Artist’s Shuffle: My Dichotomy! I am so excited to see what comes of this huge collaboration/swap. My goal is to inspire creativity, challenge us to create awesome art, promote collection and start a conversation.
So here we go:
1] Create a self portrait for your piece of art (collage, painting, drawing, fiber art, photography, or whatever), with final dimensions as 5x7 inch (12.5x17.5 cm).
2] Leave me some room! Remember this is a collaboration. When your art is returned to me I will be doing art on the same canvas as you. You can split the area in half or fill the canvas in your style, just be aware, I might cover up or do art on top of part of your art.
3] Print your name on the BACK of the art! Please Please Please don’t forget to print your name, website and medium, and PRINT CLEARLY!!.

4] If you want to add a 250 word biography or additional websites/email or even a poem, for the book, please email those to [email protected] by April 1st. If you don't email me, I will just type the information given to me on the back of the canvas. I STRONGLY suggest adding a short biography and your contact info to the book.
5] Mail your piece of art to me

6] I will collaborate with you on your piece of art with my own self portrait. After I receive all the art back I will scan everything in and publish a book. I am also trying to show the entire collection in a series of galleries and spaces. I will keep you posted on that on the Artist's Shuffle Blog.
7] Once the book has been published and the (possible) gallery shows have ended, I will do the shuffle part. I will mail a piece of art from this collection to you, for your collection! YOU WILL NOT RECEIVE YOUR OWN ARTWORK BACK!

Q&A
Q: What surface should our art be on?
A: I prefer a heavy mixed media paper like this Strathmore paper or any other mixed media paper over 140lb. You could also use canvas boards or mixed media matt boards. I want the pieces to be able to fit in the regular mail to be cost effective for shipping. I will accept the art on any surface though.
Q: I am not good at drawing faces or figures, can I still participate?
A: Yes! I want your self portrait to best represent yourself. If you would rather see yourself as a color, feeling, animal or whatever, please do that. I want this show to be about you (as you think you are) and me (as I think I am). Relax, have fun and send me something!
Q: When can I see our collaboration?
A: I will scan the image and email you a digital copy of the completed artwork for you to have. It will also be published in a book about this project where you can purchase a digital copy or a physical copy. That is still TBA. Stay tuned to the blog for updates.
