This art piece has been in the works for almost a year now. I started by creating the blooming form in clay and then glazing it with a variety of layers. I am always working toward defining ecology and connections in our environment. To tie my ideas together I work with mixing media, as it helps me express the subconscious knowledge I have within. To me this blooming figure need to be juxtaposed with something dead, and beaten. A life cycle. The piece of collected driftwood from the Oregon Coast was the perfect symbolism-something organic, decaying, and smoothed by nature. As a final touch, I painted a mountain range with snow melting and giving life.
