After a quick trip to the grocery store in Bend, OR, we headed west to Tumalo Falls. The clouds finally rolled in around 7 pm and we had to drive home over the Cascades in the rain.
What an adventure.

Get away from the kitchen and all the cooking I do. From the day to day and the wear it puts on a person to be stuck in one place for so long. I hit the open road with a friend and a van full of kids and we went on a grand adventure. It took almost an hour to drive through the dappled lit winding roads. We passed the forests of tall evergreens with 50 shades of green growing all around in grass, leaves, lichen and moss. This was contrasted by the sprinkles of white and purple wild flowers that made the inner girl want to pull over and pick a giant bouquet.
We arrived at 3 pools and parked and loaded up the 6 of us with all our gear. The plan was a long day of enjoying the river and the incredibly clear glassy water. We hiked down and claimed our section of grey rocky beach for the day and spread out. The kids were suited and all the floating devices blown up and ready for fun. The water was like ice but we managed to get in and out long enough to waste five hours of our day. We built some solid childhood memories today. I got to paint with the river water as my medium. And best of all we got to get away. I was recently commissioned to make a computer bag. I hand dyed the fabric then sewed the padded bag together with dividers and zippered pockets. After it was sewn I added leather handles and rings on the side for a shoulder strap. We loved how this turned out!
